<p>Often website owners need to collect tons of information from users through forms. But when users see forms with many fields they tend to be scared and leave your website without filling the form.</p>

<p>What could be the solution to get all the information you want without scaring the users away?</p>

<p>That’s where multi-page forms came in handy. Multi-page forms only display a part of form fields at the first glance so that it becomes easier to fill out for your users. Not only that, it helps increase engagement and improve the user experience. </p>

<p>In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to create a multi-page form for your WordPress site with Live Forms. But before that let’s see why you should set up a multi-step form.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reasons Why You Should Set Up a Multi-Page Form:</h2>

<p>Forms are one of the best ways to collect users’ information. But when you add tons of form fields to a form, it can be annoying for your users. So, instead of creating a long form you should consider creating a multi-page form. Here is why____</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>It provides the well-organized layout</li><li>Help you to group the questions into specific topics and ask genuine questions from your users.</li><li>Reduces form abandonment rate by displaying a limited number of form fields</li><li>Offers a better user experience and encourage your website visitor to fill out the form</li><li>As it offers a better user experience certainly boosts your website conversion rates</li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Create a Multi-Page Form for Your WordPress Site?</h2>

<p>As we have mentioned earlier, in this tutorial we will use the <a href="https://wordpress.org/plugins/liveforms/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Live Forms</a> plugin to create a multi-page form for the WordPress site. Now, you might be thinking that why we are using Live Forms for creating the multi-page form?</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/live-forms.png"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="750" height="252" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/live-forms.png" alt="Live Forms" class="wp-image-17371" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/live-forms.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/live-forms-300x101.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Because, where most of the form builder plugins provide the multi-page form feature in the premium version, Live Forms offer that feature for both free and paid version. Its drag and drop feature takes only a few seconds to build a form. Moreover, with the Live Forms, you just need to click a button to make your form a multi-page form, whereas other form builders make the process lengthy and tricky.</p>

<div style="height:1px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step -1: Install and Activate the Live Forms Plugin</h3>

<p>To start creating a multi-page form for your WordPress site, you need to install and activate the Live Forms. Live Forms provide the multi-page form feature on both free and paid version. So you can easily install the plugin from WordPress.org.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/install.png"><img decoding="async" width="558" height="347" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/install.png" alt="install Live Forms plugin" class="wp-image-17372" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/install.png 558w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/install-300x187.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 558px) 100vw, 558px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>To install Live forms, navigate to “Plugins&gt; Add New” and then search for the <a href="https://wordpress.org/plugins/liveforms/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Live Forms</a> plugin. Once you find the plugin, just install and activate it.</p>

<p>After activation, the “Forms” menu will appear on your admin dashboard.</p>

<div style="height:1px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step- 2: Creating a Multi-Page Form WordPress Site</h3>

<p>Now, it’s time to start creating the multi-page form.&nbsp; For that, go to “Forms &gt; Add New” and simply select a form template. If you don’t want to choose a template and start creating Formby yourself then click on “Start From the Ground”.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/start-from-ground.png"><img decoding="async" width="750" height="483" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/start-from-ground.png" alt="create multi-page form" class="wp-image-17373" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/start-from-ground.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/start-from-ground-300x193.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Once the form builder page appears, the first thing you need to do is add a title for the form. For this tutorial, we are going to create a multi-page School Admission Form.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/title.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="375" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/title.png" alt="create multi-page form" class="wp-image-17374" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/title.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/title-300x150.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>As we have added the form title, you need to add form fields to your form. But before that, you need to go to the “Setting &gt; Look and Feel” and check the “Enable multi-page form” option. It will allow you to create the multi-page form.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/settings.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="348" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/settings.png" alt="create multi-page form" class="wp-image-17375" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/settings.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/settings-300x139.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Now, to add form fields, check the “FIELDS” option on the left side of your screen. Live Forms offers three types of form fields to its users:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Commonly Used Fields and Generic Fields are for both free and premium version users.</li></ul>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="415" height="585" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields.png" alt="form fields" class="wp-image-17376" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields.png 415w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields-213x300.png 213w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 415px) 100vw, 415px" /></a></figure></div>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Advanced Fields are for only premium version users.</li></ul>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields1.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="418" height="601" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields1.png" alt="form fields" class="wp-image-17377" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields1.png 418w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/form-fields1-209x300.png 209w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>For School Admission Form we need to use advanced fields also. If you need advanced fields then check the <a href="https://wpliveforms.com/form-builder-pricing-plans-wordpress-plugin/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">pricing page</a>&nbsp;and purchase a plan.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Pricing-Live-Forms-png.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="950" height="613" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Pricing-Live-Forms-png.png" alt="Live Forms pricing" class="wp-image-17378" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Pricing-Live-Forms-png.png 950w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Pricing-Live-Forms-png-300x194.png 300w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Pricing-Live-Forms-png-768x496.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Now, drag and drop the form fields you want to add to one group. For this School Admission Form, we have added a few form fields for the student information section.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/add-new-section-1.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="450" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/add-new-section-1.png" alt="create multi-page form" class="wp-image-17380" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/add-new-section-1.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/add-new-section-1-300x180.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>After adding a section of form fields, you may want to split the form into pages. And creating a multi-page form into a single-page form is just a click away. Just drag the “Add New Section” button from the top right corner of the form builder page and drop it on the form.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/chrome-capture-1-1.gif"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="915" height="556" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/chrome-capture-1-1.gif" alt="create multi-page form" class="wp-image-17382"/></a></figure></div>

<p>You can also name the section or page. For that, hover over the section filed and the settings option will appear on the left side. Now, add the section name on the text box under the &#8220;Section Name&#8221;.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Section-name.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="356" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Section-name.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17395" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Section-name.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Section-name-300x142.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Next, add the&nbsp;additional form fields to complete your form and customize the submit button.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/submission-button-settings.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="223" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/submission-button-settings.png" alt="customize submission button" class="wp-image-17383" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/submission-button-settings.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/submission-button-settings-300x89.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Lastly, click the “Save” button to save the form.</p>

<div style="height:1px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step-3: Publish The Multi-Page Form</h3>

<p>Once you are done, it’s time to add the form to a page or post. For that, click on the “Embed” button on the top left corner of the screen.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/embed.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="766" height="356" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/embed.png" alt="embed form" class="wp-image-17384" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/embed.png 766w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/embed-300x139.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 766px) 100vw, 766px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Now, a shortcode will appear on the screen. Copy that shortcode and paste it to the page or post you want the form to publish. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Shortcode.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="612" height="395" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Shortcode.png" alt="copy form shortcode" class="wp-image-17385" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Shortcode.png 612w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Shortcode-300x194.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Click the &#8220;Publish&#8221; button and let’s check the form.</p>

<p>As you can see, the form displaying only a few fields on the first page. Once your users fill out the fields on the first page, they will be able to go to the next page by pressing the “Proceed” button.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Screenshot-33.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="343" src="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Screenshot-33.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17431" srcset="https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Screenshot-33.png 750w, https://wpliveforms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Screenshot-33-300x137.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a></figure></div>
